Tutorial: Web-enabled CICS Acting as a Web Client

This tutorial uses a modified and extended version of the ACCT demonstration application.

In this version, it uses the CICS Web client APIs to act as a Web client, and converses with a Web server to submit and retrieve account information. For this reason, a server program is also included that acts as the back end for the demonstration application.

Prerequisites

To complete this tutorial, you need the following software:

  • Micro Focus Enterprise Developer
  • Micro Focus Rumba+ Desktop TN3270 emulator.
    Note: Rumba is provided as an installation option when you install Enterprise Developer. If Rumba+ Desktop is not installed, see your systems administrator.

In addition, this tutorial requires that you use the Eclipse Team Developer perspective.

  1. Create and Configure a Project
    Create and configure a mainframe-enabled COBOL project for a CICS client for a CICS Web-enabled application.
  2. Create and Configure an Enterprise Server Region
    Create and configure a mainframe-enabled enterprise server region on which to run a CICS client for a Web-enabled application.
  3. Run the ACCTCLNT Application
    Run the ACCTCLNT application in the Rumba+ Desktop TN3270 terminal display, and add two data records.
  4. Debug the Application
    In this step, you debug your CICS Web-enabled application.
