Manage Connections Tool Error Messages

This topic describes error messages that are specific to the Manage Connections tool.

Error Message Description or Cause Resolution
64-bit ODBC connection failed The specified 64-bit ODBC connection failed. Check the connection parameters.
(A connection) already exists and will not be imported A warning message. It can be ignored.
(A connection) cannot be imported. An existing connection cannot be imported due to unsupported provider type. Redefine the connection using a supported provider type.
An existing connection was found and no action was taken. If you wish to add or update an existing connection, please specify the FORCE=TRUE parameter. An existing connection cannot be overwritten. The user may choose to set the parameter FORCE=TRUE to overwrite, or do nothing.
An unexpected error has occurred. Please report the following error to Micro Focus Support:    
Following required parameter is missing A required parameter is not provided. Provide the specified parameter value.
Invalid command line parameter The specified parameter value is empty or out of range. Assign a proper value to the required parameter.
Invalid connection mode The connection mode parameter “MODE” has no value. Assign a value to the parameter.
Invalid connection name The connection name parameter “DSN” has no value. Assign a value to the parameter.
Invalid connection provider The connection provider parameter “PROVIDER” has no value. Assign a value to the parameter.
Invalid connection provider type The connection provider type parameter “PTYPE” has no value. Assign a value to the parameter.
Invalid connection server type The connection server type parameter “STYPE” has no value. Assign a value to the parameter.
Invalid connection type The connection type parameter “CTYPE” has no value. Assign a value to the parameter.
Invalid number of arguments The command line has no arguments. Add the required arguments to the command line.
The connection name specified already exists. Please provide a unique connection name. The new connection name conflicts with an existing one. Use a different name for the new connection.
The process does not have the WRITE permission to the file The process does not have WRITE permission to the specific file. Depending on the security policy of the organization, the resolution can be either Run as Administrator or Grant the user WRITE permission.
Unable to list SQL Server instances Unable to list SQL Server instances in the local area network. Check the network connectivity.
Unable to write DSN tracking file XML schema error. Contact Micro Focus support.
Validation of command line parameters failed Some of the command line parameters have syntax errors. Correct the syntax errors by following the sample format provided in the command line usage documentation topic.
