Function Shipping

Function shipping enables a transaction executing on a local MSS system to access remote resources (files, temporary storage queues and transient data queues).

The operation of function shipping is illustrated below.

Outbound function shipping is what happens when your local transaction programs ship functions to remote MSS systems or to IBM-compatible CICS systems.

Inbound function shipping is what happens when remote MSS systems ship functions to your MSS system.
