Server Instance Control Settings

Use this page to view and change detailed status information for a running an Enterprise Server instance, and to access ESMAC.

To access this page:

  1. On the server instance screen, select the Server > Control tabs.
ES Monitor and Control

Click this to go to Enterprise Server Monitor and Control (ESMAC), which provides a range of monitoring and control facilities for enterprise servers.

Service execution processes

Shows a list of all the service execution processes running on this enterprise server..

Count

Shows a sequence number for the service execution process.

Type
Shows the type of service execution process. The possible values are:
Debug
A service execution process that is being used to debug a service. This service execution process must have been started from the command line.
Normal
A normal service execution process started from the Home page of Server Administration.
Transient
A service execution process that is executing a service which has corrupted the application container, or a service that is responding to a long-running Java stateful session bean. The transient service execution process will terminate when the current service is complete, and be replaced by a new service execution process.
PID

Shows the process identifier of the service execution process. You can use this for tracking and debugging purposes.

TR Count

Shows the number of transactions this service execution process has handled since the server was started.

State
Shows what state the server is in. The possible values are:
Idle
The server is idle and waiting for client requests.
Running
The server is busy, that is, one of the services is currently processing a client request.
Executing

Shows the name of the service that is currently being executed.

Start Time

Shows the time that the current transaction started. This time is local to the machine where the Directory Server is running.

Local Time

Shows the current time. This time is local to the machine where the Directory Server is running.

Duration

Shows how long the current transaction has been running.

Auxiliary processes

Shows a list of all the auxiliary processes running on this enterprise server. Auxiliary processes are system processes that support the activity of the enterprise server.

Type (auxiliary processes)

Shows the type of auxiliary process.

PID (auxiliary processes)

Shows the process identifier of the auxiliary process. You can use this for tracking and debugging purposes.

Requested service execution processes

Specify a new number of service execution processes.

Allocated licenses

Shows the number of licenses allocated to this enterprise server. Can display "Unlimited" if an unlmited number of licenses were allocated.

Requested licenses

Specify a new number of licenses required for this server. You cannot specify a new number of licenses if Allocated licenses is set to "Unlimited".

Update

Click this to update the number of service execution processes or licenses available for this server. When you change the number of service execution processes, the server takes about 20 seconds to start the new processes or shut down existing processes. When you change the number of licenses, extra licenses are granted or refused immediately, and any licenses not required are returned to the pool of unused licenses. When the server is restarted it will use the number of service execution processes and the number of licenses configured in the Edit Server page.

Stop Server

Click this to stop the server.

The server begins to shut down and you are returned to the Home page.
