ODBC Installation

To configure Acu4GL for ODBC, the ODBC core components (Windows) or a supported ODBC driver manager (UNIX) must be installed, then you can install one of the supported ODBC drivers.

These products are not provided by Micro Focus, but may have been installed alongside any ODBC drivers or data sources that you already have on your system. For example, if you have installed Microsoft Access on your computer, the Access drivers and ODBC may have been automatically installed.

Windows:

Since Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, the ODBC core components are included in the operating system. Follow these steps to determine if this is the case:

  1. Open the Windows control panel.
  2. Double-click the Administrative Tools icon, then select Data Sources (ODBC). (On older versions of Windows, select the 32-bit ODBC icon directly from the control panel.)

The ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box is displayed, showing all the data sources currently configured for your system.

If the ODBC icon is not in your control panel, ODBC is probably not installed on your system. To install ODBC on your system, you have two options:

    • Buy an ODBC driver from a driver or database vendor and install it. ODBC is installed automatically.
    • Buy and install a Windows-based ODBC data source. The ODBC driver and ODBC will be one of the install options.

UNIX:

Note: The use of a driver manager is only supported on a shared libraries build of the extend Interoperability Suite.

The following ODBC driver managers are supported:

Refer to the ODBC driver manager documentation for instructions on how to make ODBC driver manager communicate with one of the supported ODBC drivers.

When correctly configured, you need to ensure that the lib directory of the driver manager, and the lib sub-directory of your product installation directory is included in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
