The Settings - Display Graphics Page

Use the options in the Graphics page and the Tektronix page to control the appearance of ReGIS and Tektronix graphic images. Many of these options correspond to the options available on the VT340 or Tektronix 401X series terminals.

Options

Description

Display List

Select one or both options. If you select both, Display List is used when necessary (for example, after a zoom), and Bitmap is used at other times. To print an image, at least one of these options must be selected. Although the display list method can provide better results, many printers do not support this method. Selecting the bitmap method will always allow you to print.

If you use the Display List method for storing graphic images for printing and redrawing on the screen, all graphics commands are stored in a list. This option offers you the most flexibility when you want to change the font size (zoom).

Bitmap

Select one or both options. If you select both, Display List is used when necessary (for example, after a zoom), and Bitmap is used at other times. To print an image, at least one of these options must be selected. Although the display list method can provide better results, many printers do not support this method. Selecting the bitmap method will always allow you to print.

If you use the Bitmap method for storing graphic images for printing and redrawing on the screen, a copy of the image is saved in memory. This generally means that the screen be redrawn faster than with the Display List method. However, if you change the font size, the image cannot be redisplayed. You must select this option if you want to copy and paste graphics.

Styled Lines

If your image is missing some lines, select this option to use a solid background, rather than a transparent background. Although this differs slightly from the VT340, styled lines are displayed properly. This value is stored in the Windows Registry database, not in your session file. If you set this value, all display sessions use it.

Ignore Requests

These options determine how your session responds to a ReGIS hardcopy command S(H) from the host. Select this option to ignore the host request to print graphics.

Background Printing

These options determine how your session responds to a ReGIS hardcopy command S(H) from the host. Select this option to send background colors.

Color Printing

These options determine how your session responds to a ReGIS hardcopy command S(H) from the host. Select this option to send color sixels. If you clear this option, monochrome sixels are sent.

Sixel Graphics Level

These options determine how your session responds to a ReGIS hardcopy command S(H) from the host. Select the aspect ratio of the sixel data sent to the host. You should select the option that best matches the VAX printer on which you will print the image. Contact your VAX system administrator for assistance in selecting one of these values.

Sixel Print Option

These options determine how your session responds to a ReGIS hardcopy command S(H) from the host. Select the size of the sixel image. Compressed, the default, is approximately 6 inches wide by 3 inches high. Expanded is approximately 12 inches wide by 8 inches high. Rotated prints an Expanded image, rotated to print in landscape orientation on letter size paper.

Color Specification

These options determine how your session responds to a ReGIS hardcopy command S(H) from the host. Select a color encoding method. The default is HLS (Hue, Lightness, and Saturation).

Graphics Cursor

Select this option to display an output cursor at the writing point. This does not affect the Graphics Input Mode cursor.

Macrograph Report

Select this option to send the contents of a macrograph in response to a ReGIS Report Macrograph command from the host.

Sixel Scrolling

Select this option to allow sixel scrolling. Sixel drawing begins at the current text cursor position and can scroll the screen. If cleared, sixel drawing begins at the home position and cannot scroll the screen. This does not affect the text active position. For VT340 compatibility select this option; for VT240 compatibility, clear this option.
