The Edit Recording Dialog Box

This dialog box shows the navigation path that your recording represents. From this dialog box, you can edit either the included host screen pages or the path itself.

This dialog box shows the terminal fields, identification fields, and paths from the selected screen page, so that you can:

  • Change any of the terminal field names for the selected screen page

  • Change the way an identification field is recognized

  • Add an identification field

  • Remove an identification field

  • Remove or change any of the recorded paths from the selected screen

  • Add a path from the selected screen

Following is a description of the options available on the Edit Screen dialog box.

Screen Name: Displays the name of the selected host screen page in the recording.

Screen Number: Represents the order in which the screen appears in the recording. You cannot modify this information.

Number of Input Fields: Displays the number of unprotected fields on the selected screen. You cannot modify this information.

Paths Leading to this Screen: Displays the number of paths taken to the selected screen. You cannot modify this information.

Initial Cursor Position: Displays the row/column coordinates of the cursor. This is the location of the cursor when this screen was captured. You cannot modify this information.

Variable Length Recorded Data: Displays a list of the recorded data associated with the selected screen. You can view and edit the recorded items, such as terminal fields, identification fields, and paths. You can also specify the actions to be taken. If a plus (+) sign is displayed beside an item, the entries for that item are collapsed. These items can be viewed by clicking the Expand button. If a minus (-) sign is displayed beside an item, all of the associated entries are displayed. Click Collapse to hide the entries.

  • Terminal Fields: Displays a list of the host fields on the selected screen. The default values for protected fields are LABEL001, LABEL002, and so on. The protected field names are EDIT001. EDIT002, and so on. To view information about or to edit a field, select the field and click Edit.

  • Identification Fields: Displays a list of the identification fields for the selected screen. Identification fields uniquely identify the screen to your application. You can add, edit, or delete identification fields by clicking Add, Edit or Delete.

  • Direct Paths Leading from this Screen: Displays a list of the paths that can be taken from the selected screen. You can add a path by selecting this field and clicking Add. You edit or delete a path by selecting a path from the expanded list and clicking Edit or Delete.

  • Actions Available on this Screen: Displays a list of actions defined for the selected screen. You can add, edit and delete actions for the selected screen.

Editing a Recording

Get to the Edit Recording dialog box by selecting the Expand Page Settings Dialog Box option in the Global Preferences dialog box.

  1. Access the Edit Recording dialog box.

  2. Select a screen from the expanded Screens in recording and click Edit to edit a screen.

    Select a screen from the expanded Screens in recording and click Delete to delete a screen.

  3. Choose Direct Paths in Recording and click Add, Edit or Delete to add, edit or delete a path.

Editing a screen

  1. Display the Edit screen dialog box.

  2. To edit a terminal field, select the field from the expanded Terminal Fields, and click Edit.

  3. Choose Identification Fields and click Add to add an identification field.

    Select the field from the expanded Identification Fields and click Edit to edit an identification field.

    -or-

    Select the field from the expanded Identification Fields and click Delete to delete an identification field.

  4. Choose Direct Paths Leading from this Screen, and click Add to add a path.

    Select a path from the expanded Direct Paths Leading from this Screen, and click Edit to edit a path.

    -or-

    Select a path from the expanded Direct Paths Leading from this Screen, and click Delete to delete a path.

  5. Choose Actions Available from this Screen and click Add to add an action.

    Select an action from the expanded Actions Available from this Screen and click Edit to edit an action.

    Select an action from the expanded Actions Available from this Screen and click Delete to delete an action.
