The Edit Path Dialog Box

A path is a set of keystrokes used to navigate from one host screen to another. For 3270 and 5250 environments, the path also includes any AID keys you may use. When you record a session, the paths between each screen are saved to your recording file. You can edit the paths between screens.

This dialog box shows the user entries, terminal keystrokes, and the path from the selected screen page, so that you can:

  • add a prompt for the user to enter text

  • type in any text you want to be entered as if it were user input; for example, a logon ID

  • select keystrokes from a list to be added to the path entries

  • insert, replace, or delete key entries in the path

Following is a list of the options available in the Edit Path dialog box.

Path From Screen: Displays the first screen in the selected path. You cannot modify this information for an existing path. If you create a new path, select the starting screen from the list box.

Edit Entry: Enter the text you would like added or inserted, or replaced in the entry in the Key Entries In Path list. If you selected the Prompt User for Input text box, enter the text you want to appear as the heading for the prompt box.

Terminal Keys: Displays a list of AID and special keys, such as tab and enter. Double-click a key to display it in the Edit Entry list box. Click Insert, Add, Delete or Replace to update the Key Entries In Path box.
