SharePoint connection

If you will be creating repositories that process SharePoint data, you must complete additional tasks to enable processing by the processing agent.

  • Install a license server in your Data Discovery environment and implement a license for the SharePoint remote connector.
  • Configure the SharePoint remote connector to point to the license server.

If you have multiple agents installed in your Data Discovery environment, this must be completed for each agent host that will be managing SharePoint repositories.

  • Create a SharePoint user for Data Discovery. The SharePoint user is used by the processing agent to connect to and perform actions in your SharePoint environment. You will enter the credentials for this account when you create SharePoint repositories.

The SharePoint user that Data Discovery authenticates with must, at a minimum, be able to perform the following functions. The exact permissions you set for this user in SharePoint are specific to your SharePoint environment.

    • Read. This allows the processing agent to collect items from SharePoint.

    • Delete. This allows the processing agent to delete items from SharePoint.

For the SharePoint version supported, see the supported data resources under the Agent installation.
