Repository attributes

You can create and use repository attributes to group and segregate repositories based on criteria that is important to your organization. An attribute consists of an attribute name and one or more values. Once attributes are created and associated with repositories, you can use the Sensitive Data dashboard to view the quantity of data associated with your attributes relative to your weighted labels.

For example, you may have several SharePoint repositories that host blank new hire forms , a SharePoint repository that hosts employee benefit videos, and a file share repository that hosts completed new hire forms. You can create an attribute for "Human Resources" that includes "new hires" and "benefits" values. You assign the "Human Resources" "new hires" value to the SharePoint repositories for the blank new hire forms and to the file system repository for the completed new hire forms. You then assign the "Human Resources" "benefits" value to the SharePoint repository for the employee benefits videos. On the Sensitive Data dashboard, select to view the Human Resources attribute chart instead of the agent clusters chart and see the number of items identified by the selected weighted labels for each attribute value.

Repository attributes and values can be created and then assigned to repositories, or created and assigned to a repository when you initially create or edit a repository (see Sources and repositories). You must have at least one value associated with an attribute name to associate the attribute with a repository and to view the attribute on the Sensitive Data dashboard.

Attributes and values that have been associated with a repository cannot be deleted. You must remove the association to the repository (edit the repository) before you can delete the attribute or value. If associations exist, you are notified when you attempt to delete the attribute or individual value.
