Overview
File Reporter26.4 extends the existing capabilities of Identity Governance by providing an integrated solution for the collection, review, and certification of user access in unstructured data repositories.
This solution is the integration of the following products:
-
OpenText Identity Governance
-
OpenText File Reporter
This integration combines file system security scans in File Reporter with the user access review and certification processes in Identity Governance.
NOTE: The instructions in this guide apply to both Identity Governance and Identity Governance and Administration.
Intended Audience
This documentation is for system administrators who provide a solution for reviewing and certifying user access to unstructured file system data through Identity Governance.
Administrators should have working knowledge of application data collection and review processes in Identity Governance, and a basic knowledge of performing file system permissions scans in File Reporter.
Unstructured Data Repositories
Unstructured data is commonly associated with projects and work groups but exists outside the control of the applications that create it. It can include files on network shares, email attachments, synchronized cloud repositories, and other on-premises or cloud document repositories.
The Identity Governance integration supports SMB file shares, including shares hosted on Windows servers and network-attached storage devices.
Terminology
In Identity Governance, a Permission represents an application entitlement that can be reviewed.
In file systems, permission can describe an access right assigned to a user or group for a file system resource, such as read access or write access.
To distinguish these concepts, this documentation uses access and rights for file system access. The Identity Governance collector used with File Reporter is called the File System Access collector.
