Consistent Hashing

In consistent hashing mode, you can add, remove, and change the weight of the child servers in your DIH without having to reindex all your content. DIH distributes documents among a large, fixed number of virtual nodes, and then assigns the virtual nodes to one or more child servers. When you change the number of weight of a child server, you can use the DREREDISTRIBUTE index action to redistribute the virtual nodes between the new set of servers without reindexing all the data.

You cannot use consistent hashing mode in a distribution architecture with tiered DIH servers.

For more information, refer to the DIH Administration Guide and the DIH Reference.
