When you are trying to diagnose problems with your document tracking, consider the following points:
For a database back end, ensure that your database is set up correctly. Make sure that you have:
the correct table definitions
the appropriate database driver installed on the server that hosts the indexing component.
The DLL checks that the schema version is correct.
Ensure that the configured UIDFieldName
field exists in all your indexed documents. You must not use this field for any other purpose. Each document must have a unique value in this field, because it serves as the unique identifier for documents in tracking.
Connectors generate this field automatically.
For the ODBC library, IDOL logs any SQL errors to the index
log stream. These log messages can help you to diagnose any problems that occur while committing events to the database.
To check that you have configured document tracking correctly, check the directory that you have set as the DocTrackDir
. When the configuration is correct, the components create temporary files in this directory during indexing.
