To get the maximum return from IDOL, carefully decide what you want to index into IDOL Server. You can then deploy Connectors and CFS to retrieve this information.

You should install IDOL Connectors on a dedicated server. Do not install connectors on the same machine as your repository, or on the same machine as IDOL Server, because this reduces performance.
You can install CFS on the same server as a connector, or on a different server. A single CFS can process information from multiple connectors, which means that you can:
install a single CFS to process data from all of your connectors.
create groups of similar connectors and use a different CFS to process data from each group.
install a CFS for every connector.
To increase the availability and scalability of your IDOL infrastructure, you can install a Distributed Connector.
