Image Description Requirements

This topic provides guidance on system requirements and processing time for image description.

Image description requires a minimum of 32GB memory when running on a CPU. When running on a GPU, slightly less system memory is required but the model consumes approximately 16GB of GPU memory. GPUs with less than 16GB of memory are not able to run image description.

TIP: Performance figures vary depending on system specifications. The figures given below are based on one example system and are intended only as a guide. OpenText recommends running performance tests on your own system(s).

When you run image description on a CPU, Media Server requires approximately nine or ten minutes for each image that you process. When you run on a GPU, Media Server requires approximately 40 seconds for the first image, followed by five seconds for each subsequent image.
