3.10.1 Tracing ALC, UTS, and T27 Sessions

You can use InfoConnect Manager to create traces for troubleshooting ALC, UTS, and T27 sessions. All trace information is sent to the Trace Log Library (ictracel.dll), which creates a log file and provides an optional window that displays trace information.

To trace an ALC, UTS, or T27 session

  1. Start InfoConnect Manager and log in as Administrator.

  2. From the Administer menu, select Trace.

  3. In the Trace Log Options dialog box, select Enable Trace Log.

  4. (Optional) To create trace log files without displaying the Trace Log Library window, select Hide Trace Window.

When Hide Trace Window is not selected, the Trace Log Library window starts to run (minimized) when you close the Trace Options dialog box. It will continue to run until you turn off tracing each time you launch InfoConnect Manager or start an ALC, UTS, or T27 session. You can use this window to view trace information on screen and to specify which sessions are traced and at what level.

  5. (Optional) Use Custom Trace File Location to specify a log file name and location. Enter a fully qualified path and filename. If you leave this box blank, a file called Trace.log is created in the InfoConnect application data folder This folder location is configurable using the Data Location tab during installation. The default is C:\Users\Public\Documents\Micro Focus\InfoConnect. .

  6. (Optional) Use Maximum File Size to limit the log file size. Use this option if you are going to leave tracing on. New trace data is appended to an existing file; and without a limit, the log file will continue to increase in size.

  7. Click OK to close the Trace Log Options dialog box.

  8. (Optional) Use Session Trace Options to specify which sessions are traced and to set the tracing level. By default the Trace Log Library traces all new sessions at the highest level. To change the default settings, use the Windows taskbar to display the InfoConnect Trace Library window; then from the Options window, select Session Trace.

  9. To obtain a complete trace, stop and restart all InfoConnect processes, then start the session and reproduce the issue to be captured in the trace log.

NOTE:If existing processes (such as services) remain running, you may not capture the expected trace, particularly if you are running InfoConnect Airlines Gateway.

  10. Close the trace log and InfoConnect Manager.

  11. Turn off tracing to save disk space. (When the trace runs for an extended period, the trace file growth can cause issues with disk space.)

To turn off tracing

  1. Start InfoConnect Manager and log in as Administrator.

  2. From the Administer menu, select Trace.

  3. In the Trace Log Options dialog box, clear Enable Trace Log.

  4. Click OK. Tracing is now turned off.
