Using this dialog box, you can specify advanced printing options, such as whether or not to enable line wrap, or which translation table to use.

Table 1-4 Advanced Print Options/Print Screen/Capture Options Dialog Settings

Setting

Description

Print Mode

Select the option that indicates when to send data to the printer:

Options

  • Standard: Spool the data internally and then send it to the printer after the amount of time specified in the Printer Timeout text box has expired .

  • Quick: Send the data to the printer immediately .

For printing a single screen, the data is always sent to the printer immediately, no matter which option you select here. For capture, Standard is used automatically, and this option is dimmed (unavailable). For host printing, the appropriate option varies, depending on how much data the host sends in a single buffer. If your print jobs appear fragmented, click Standard and increase the Printer Timeout value. If all the needed data is sent within one buffer, you can speed printing by clicking Standard and decreasing the Printer Timeout value, or by clicking Quick.

Printer Timeout

Type the number of seconds (0-99) that Accessory Manager should wait before sending data to the printer.

You can specify a timeout value only if you click Standard from the Print Mode list box.

For capture, this option is dimmed (unavailable), and 20 seconds is used by default.

If you select Display Abort Dialog While Printing on the Host Print Options dialog box, the Printer Timeout also determines how long the Abort dialog box remains on the screen after the last buffer is processed.

Tab Size

Type the number of characters between tab stops (0-8). When data is printed, Accessory Manager converts any tab characters to the appropriate number of spaces to reach the next tab stop.

For example, if the Tab Size is 4 and a tab character occurs two characters to the right of the last tab stop, Accessory Manager converts the tab character to two spaces. If a tab character occurs three characters to the right of the last tab stop, Accessory Manager converts the tab character to one space.

If you set the Tab Size to zero, all tab characters are transmitted directly to the printer. They are not converted to spaces.

You can specify the tab size only if you cleared Print To File or Capture To File on the initial dialog box.

Enable Line Wrap

Select this option to have long lines of text wrap to the next line on the printout.

If you clear this option, long lines are truncated. The point where truncation occurs depends on the font, font size, margins, and paper size you are using.

You can select this option only if you cleared Print To File or Capture To File on the initial dialog box.

Enable Passthrough Printing

Select this option to enable passthrough printing.

When passthrough printing is enabled, data is sent directly to the printer without being interpreted by the printer driver or emulator.

This option is designed for use with host applications that send raw printer escape sequences. You should select this option only if your host application is designed to control a specific printer directly. This option is used primarily with host printing commands rather than printing initiated by the Print Screen or Capture commands in the File menu, although it can be used with the latter to cause the printer to use its default internal font.

If you select this option, it is recommended that you use only Generic/Text Only or Epson EX-800 printer drivers for all printers.

You can select this option only if you cleared Print To File or Capture To File on the initial dialog box.

If you clear this option, data from the host will be interpreted by the printer driver and emulator before being printed, and the printer driver might strip some raw printer escape sequences from the data.

Translate Data

Select this option to use a translation table for the data being printed.

The printing translation table included with Accessory Manager is CRTOLF.TBL, which converts a carriage return character into a line feed character.

When you select this check box, be sure to also click Translate and select the desired translation table.

If you clear this option, no translation table will be applied to the data being printed.

Print Line Attribute

If the host data to be printed includes lines (such as underlines beneath words or column separators), select this option to print the lines.

If you clear this option, the lines will not be printed.

You can select this option only if you cleared Print To File on the Host Print Printer Settings dialog box, and only if your emulator supports host printing via Accessory Manager.

NOTE:This item applies only to host printing via Accessory Manager; it does not apply to single screen printing or capture. If you accessed this dialog box by clicking Print Screen or Capture from the File menu, this item is dimmed (unavailable).

Print Color Attributes

If the host data to be printed includes color attributes, select this option to print in color.

You can select this option only if you cleared Print To File on the Host Print Printer Settings dialog box, and only if your emulator supports host printing via Accessory Manager.

If you clear this option, colors will not be printed (the print jobs will be in black and white).

NOTE:This item applies only to host printing via Accessory Manager; it does not apply to single screen printing or capture. If you accessed this dialog box by clicking Print Screen or Capture from the File menu, this item is dimmed (unavailable).

Print Video Attributes

If your host data to be printed includes video attributes (such as bold, italic, reverse video, or dim), select this option to print the video attributes.

You can select this option only if you cleared Print To File on the Host Print Printer Settings dialog box, and only if your emulator supports host printing via Accessory Manager.

If you clear this option, the video attributes will not be printed (all the text will appear the same).

No Form Feed At Job End

Select this option to eliminate extra blank pages at the end of a printing job.

NOTE:The Enable passthrough printing option must be selected in order to select this option.

Translate

Click this button to select a translation table for printing.

You can click this button only if Translate Data is selected.
