Using this dialog box, you can configure various printing options, such as the information to include in the header or footer, the file to print to, and other options.

Table 1-3 Available Options

Options

Description

Document Name

If you use the &F variable in the Header or Footer text boxes, type the desired document name.

This name appears in the header or footer wherever the &F variable appears.

You can type a document name only if Print To File or Capture To File is cleared on the preceding dialog box.

Header

Type the information that you want to appear in the header of the printed document (up to 80 characters).

This header appears one line above the top margin. If you do not want to use a header, simply delete the default values. You can also use these variables (they are not case-sensitive):

To Print

  • &P: The page number

  • &F: The document name specified in the Document Name text box

  • &D: The date

  • &T: The time

  • &C: The PC that issued the print command

NOTE:You can type a header only if Print To File or Capture To File is cleared on the preceding dialog box.

Footer

Type the information that you want to appear in the footer of the printed document (up to 80 characters).

This footer appears one line below the bottom margin. If you do not want to use a footer, simply delete the default values. You can also use these variables (they are not case-sensitive):

To Print

  • &P: The page number

  • &F: The document name specified in the Document Name text box

  • &D: The date

  • &T: The time

NOTE:You can type a footer only if Print To File or Capture To File is cleared on the preceding dialog box.

File Settings

This group box contains options that determine the name of the file you are printing to and whether or not the new data should be appended to any existing data in the file. For more information about each option in this group box, refer to the context-sensitive Help for each option. You can specify these options only if you selected Print To File or Capture To File on the preceding dialog box.

Auto Name The File

Select this option to have Accessory Manager name the file automatically.

The file name is the first five letters of the session name, followed by a letter for the month (January is A, February is B, and so forth), and the day of the month. The file extension is .TXT. For example, if the session name is TCPA_1 and the file is created on April 15, the file name is TCPA_D15.TXT. This file name appears automatically in the File Name text box.

If you clear this option, you can specify a different file name in the File Name text box.

You can select or clear this option only if you selected Print To File or Capture To File on the preceding dialog box.

Append File

Select this option to add the new data to the end of any existing data in the specified file.

If you clear this option, the new data overwrites any existing data.

You can select or clear this option only if you selected Print To File or Capture To File on the preceding dialog box.

File Name

If you selected Auto Name The File, the automatically generated file name appears in this text box. To change this name, clear Auto Name The File and type the desired file name, click the arrow and select a name from the list box, or click Browse and select the desired file.

The list box displays up to ten of the most recently used file names in the order in which they have been used. If you select a file name from the list box and click OK, the selected file name is at the top of the list the next time you display the list.

The file name that appears here is used each time you print to a file using this session. If you save the session, this file name is also saved.

You specify a file name only if you selected Print To File or Capture To File on the preceding dialog box.

Display Abort Dialog While Printing

Select this option to display the Abort dialog box while host printing is in progress. This lets you stop a print job before it has completed.

You can select this option only if you cleared Print To File on the Host Print Printer Settings dialog box.

If you clear this option, the Abort dialog box will not appear.

NOTE:If you select this option and the Print Mode specified on the Advanced Host Print Options dialog box is Standard, the Abort dialog box disappears immediately when you click Abort. However, the session remains disabled until the Printer Timeout specified on the Advanced Host Print Options dialog box elapses. This ensures that the session receives all remaining print buffers from the host.

In addition, the Printer Timeout determines how long the Abort dialog box remains on the screen after the last buffer is processed.

Display Host Print Printer Settings Dialog When Job Starts

Select this option to display the Host Print Printer Settings dialog box each time you print using a host print command. This lets you change various options before the data is actually sent to the printer or file.

If you clear this option, this dialog box appears only when you click Page Setup from the File menu and then click Printer.

Font

Click this button to specify the font to use for printing.

You can click this button only if you cleared Print To File or Capture To File on the preceding dialog box.
