3.10 QuickPads

A QuickPad is a small window that you can load during a session. QuickPads can contain text, buttons, bitmaps, icons, and other graphic elements. The following figures show some sample QuickPads. They can be any shape or size, and as simple or as complex as you want:

The buttons and icons on QuickPads can perform the following tasks:

  • Send keystrokes

  • Run a macro

  • Run an application

  • Load a scheme

  • Perform any function that can be performed using Accessory Manager's menus

QuickPads can help you perform tasks that are hard to remember or that you have to repeat routinely. They are also useful if you prefer using a mouse rather than the keyboard to execute commands.

When you load a QuickPad and then save the session, that QuickPad will load automatically the next time you open that session. This is true even if you close the QuickPad during a session; the closed QuickPad loads again when you open a new session. You can also load multiple QuickPads for each session.

Most emulators come with several predefined QuickPads that are already set up and ready to use. You can use these, or you can edit them or create your own to meet your own particular needs. QuickPads can also be hidden from view and later restored if needed.
