3.6.4 Response Time Tab

Using this tab, you can enable or disable response time monitoring for the session, as well as specify the name of the response time monitor (.RTM) file and the workstation and session ID to include in that file. This tab appears only if you installed the InfoConnect Response Time Monitor Utility. For information about this utility, refer to the online Help for that application.

To monitor sessions, you must both enable response time monitoring in the session configuration and then select the session to monitor in the InfoConnect Response Time Monitor utility configuration.

Response Time Tab Options

Description

Enable Response Time Monitor System

Select this item to enable response time monitoring.

When you enable this item, a response time monitor (.RTM) file is created, and data about transmissions and responses is written to that file beginning with the next transmission from the PC.

If you clear this item, response time monitoring is disabled, and no additional information is added to the .RTM file.

NOTE:The data in this file is compressed. You can monitor about 80,000 transmissions and responses before the file reaches 1 MB. However, this file will continue to increase in size unless you disable response time monitoring, clear Append To Existing Data and then restart the session, or type a value other than zero in the Number Of Days To Collect Data text box.

Response Time Monitor File

Type the desired name for the response time monitor (.RTM) file. Be sure to use the .RTM extension.

The default name is the same as the session name, and the default location is the ACCMGR32 folder in the InfoConnect folder. If this PC is not accessible through the network (and therefore the InfoConnect Response Time Monitor Utility cannot read the .RTM file), you might want to put the file on a file server so that this utility can read its contents.

Append To Existing Data

Select this option to append any new data to the end of any existing data in the response time monitor (.RTM) file.

If you clear this option, all data in the .RTM file is overwritten each time you select Enable Response Time Monitor System or open the session when response time monitoring is enabled.

NOTE:If you select this option, leave Enable Response Time Monitor System selected indefinitely, and type 0 in the Number Of Days To Collect Data text box, the .RTM file will continue to increase in size. Although the data in this file is compressed, it is recommended that you either clear this option and periodically restart the session or type a value other than zero in the Number Of Days To Collect Data text box.

Number Of Days To Collect Data

Type the number of days of data that you want to save in the .RTM file. For example, to save a week's worth of data in the .RTM file, you would type 7 in this text box.

If the value here is zero, the file is never cleared based on the date of the data in the file.

NOTE:Even if you type a number here, if Append To Existing Data is cleared, the data in the .RTM file is overwritten each time you open the session when monitoring is enabled or select Enable Response Time Monitor System. If you type 0 here, leave Enable Response Time Monitor System selected indefinitely, and select Append To Existing Data, the .RTM file will continue to increase in size. Although the data in this file is compressed, it is recommended that you either type a value other than zero here or clear Append To Existing Data and periodically restart the session.

Workstation Identification

Type the name you want to use to identify this PC.

For example, you might type the user's name or the location of the PC. To use the PC's MAC address as the workstation identification, click Get MAC Addr.

This information appears in the Wkstn ID column in the InfoConnect Response Time Monitor Utility application window.

Session Identification
