9.3.1 Running Copy ICS Database from the Command Line

Run Copy ICS Database from the command line using copics32.exe, which is installed to the InfoConnect program folder. It supports the following command line parameters.

NOTE: If /Dand /Nare both included on the command line, the Copy ICS Database Utility dialog box does not appear when you run the executable file.

Parameter

Function

/I filename

Specifies the name of the InfoConnect database to copy. Be sure to include the correct drive and folder. If you omit the /I parameter, the database associated with the Windows system running this utility is used automatically.

/D destination

Specifies the folder where the copy will be created. If you omit the /D parameter, the Copy ICS Database Utility runs, displaying the values for any other command line parameters that you have specified.

/N newdir

Specifies the location of the executable files that will be specified in the copy of the database. If you omit the /N parameter, the Copy ICS Database Utility runs, displaying the values for any other command line parameters that you have specified.

/B1

Uses a 16-bit InfoConnect database. If you omit the /B1 parameter, the 32-bit database is used automatically.

Example

To copy your own database to the USER1 directory on file server F: and change the location of the executables to F:\INFOCONNECT, you would type the following on the command line:

COPICS32.EXE /D F:\USER1 /N F:\INFOCONNECT

Descriptions

InfoConnect Database to Copy

This displays the name of the InfoConnect database that will be copied. To specify a different database, click Browse and select the desired database.

By default, this text box displays the name of the database associated with this PC.

Click Browse to select a different database than the one that appears in the adjacent text box.

You can select any database that your PC can access. For example, you can select a database on a file server or another PC in the Network Neighborhood for which sharing has been enabled.

Destination for InfoConnect Database

This displays the drive and folder where the specified InfoConnect database will be copied. To specify a different location, click Browse and select the desired location.

Click Browse to select the drive and folder where you want to create the copy of the specified InfoConnect database.For example, you can select a folder on a file server or another PC in the Network Neighborhood for which sharing has been enabled.

Current InfoConnect Directory

This area displays the location of the executable files as it appears in the database specified in InfoConnect Database to Copy.

New InfoConnect Directory

Type the location of the executable files that you want to use in the copy of the database that you are creating. Be sure to include the correct drive and folder or UNC name.

NOTE:Database Type

Each InfoConnect library registered in the selected database must exist in the location that you specify here. For example, if you type G:\INFOCNEE in this text box, G:\INFOCNEE must be a mapped directory on the PC running this utility, and it must contain all of the libraries registered in the InfoConnect database.

To determine the names of the registered libraries, run the InfoConnect Manager, click Libraries from the Install menu, click a library, and then click Examine. The Filename field indicates the name of the file. For example, the file name for the Local library is ICLCL32.DLL.

The database type is 32-bit (IC32.CFG).

Copy

Click this button to copy the database specified in InfoConnect Database To Copy to the destination specified in Destination For InfoConnect Database. The drive and folder specified in New InfoConnect Directory will be substituted for the Current InfoConnect Directory in the copy.

This button is dimmed unless an entry appears in InfoConnect Database To Copy, Destination For InfoConnect Database, and New InfoConnect Directory.

Close

Click this button to close the Copy ICS Database Utility.
