HLCNTS NetBIOS Property

Local Name

Type an address for your PC that is unique within the LAN (up to 16 characters). This name cannot contain spaces or begin with an asterisk (*).

If you are not sure what value to type, contact your network administrator.

Remote Name

Type the name of the A Series host to connect to (up to 16 characters). The default name is the name you gave to the library channel.

If you do not know the host name, contact your host administrator.

Connection

Select your method of communication with the host.

Call

Select this option if you are calling the host to create a session.

Listen

Select this option if the host is calling you to establish a session.

Datagram

Select this option if you are communicating with the host via datagram.

A datagram is a brief message sent or received outside of a session without providing for message status. It is not guaranteed delivery.

Auto Connect

Select this option to automatically re-establish communication with the host if the NetBIOS connection is lost and then regained.

If you clear this option and the NetBIOS connection is lost, you must press the transmit keystroke to re-establish communication with the host once NetBIOS is running again.

Space Fill Names

Select this to insert spaces to create 16-character names.

Group Name

Select this option to indicate that the local name is assign to a group.

Group names allow groups of users to receive messages.

Unique Name

Select this if the local name is a permanent node name.

LANA Number

Type the number that indicates which LAN adapter card to use for the path.

Receive

Type the number of half seconds that a session using this path should take to receive a block of data. For example, if this should take one second, type 2 in this text box.

If it takes longer than this amount of time to receive the data, the connection to the gateway will be lost.

It is recommended that you type zero (0). This disables the timeout and ensures that the connection to the gateway will not be lost due to slow data transmission.

Send

Type the number of half seconds that a session using this path should take to send a block of data. For example, if this should take one second, type 2 in this text box.
