7.8.2 Gateway Monitor Tabs

InfoConnect Airlines Gateway Monitor displays information about communication between the networked PCs and the InfoConnect Airlines Gateway.

NOTE:You must be logged onto the server as an administrator in order to view any data using this utility. If you are not logged on as an administrator, Access Denied appears in the Server Status area of the application window, and the rest of the application window is blank.

The Gateway Monitor displays two tabs:

  • Active: displays data about the InfoConnect paths that that are currently in use (both listening paths and host paths)

  • Listen: displays data about all the listening paths that have been created

In addition to monitoring communication, you can use this utility to close connections between the networked PCs and the host and to trace communication between a networked PC and the Airlines Gateway to determine whether communication problems are being caused by the gateway.

This list box displays information about the currently active sessions:

Active Tab Items

Description

ID

The internal number that the gateway uses to identify the session with the host.

Status

The status of the session (only Open is currently supported)

User

The IP address of the networked PC.

Host Session

The name of the path and the station name or terminal ID associated with it.

From Client

The number of buffers sent from the networked PC to the gateway.

To Host

The number of buffers sent from the gateway to the host.

From Host

The number of buffers sent from the host to the gateway.

To Client

The number of buffers sent from the gateway to the networked PC.

Trace

The tracing status of the session (On if tracing is currently occurring, Off if it is not).

Client Session

The listening path that is in use by the particular session (only ATM_TCP_1 is currently supported).

GW Protocol

The high-level protocol used to communicate between the client and Gateway (only AIRGATE is currently supported).

NW Protocol

The low-level transport protocol used between client and gateway (only TCP is currently supported).

This list box displays information about all the client paths that have been created:

Listening Tab Items

Description

ID

The internal number that the gateway uses to identify the session with the host.

Session Name

The name of this client path.

Number

The number of instances of this client path that are simultaneously available for connection requests from the networked PCs.

Num Active

The number of sessions currently using this client path.

Trace

The tracing status of the client path (On if tracing is currently occurring, Off if it is not).

GW Protocol

The high-level protocol used to communicate between the client and Gateway (only AIRGATE is currently supported).

NW Protocol

The low-level transport protocol used between client and Gateway (only TCP is currently supported).

To close a session

  1. Do one of the following:

    If you are running this

    Do this

    Gateway Administrator

In the tree pane, click Monitor.

    Gateway Monitor

In the tree pane, click AIRGATE.

  2. Click the Active tab.

  3. From the list box, click the ID of the session that you want to close.

To select multiple sessions, hold down the Ctrl key as you click each one.

To select multiple contiguous sessions, click the first session that you want to select, hold down the Shift key, and then click the last session that you want to select. All sessions between the first and last selected session are selected.

  4. Click Close.

The sessions are closed at the networked PCs, and the names of the sessions disappear from the list box.

To trace a session

  1. Do one of the following:

    If you are running this

    Do this

    Gateway Administrator

In the tree pane, click Monitor.

    Gateway Monitor

In the tree pane, click AIRGATE.

  2. Do one of the following:

    To do this

    Do this

Begin tracing all sessions as soon as each connection request is received by the gateway

Click the Listen tab, click the listening path that you want to trace, and click Trace.

Begin tracing one or more currently active sessions

IClick the Active tab, click the session that you want to trace, and click Trace.

NOTE:If you select more than one session on the Active tab, all the sessions must have the same Trace status. For example, all the selected sessions must have a Trace status of Off (to begin tracing all of them) or On (to stop tracing all of them).

All raw protocol data and any data typed at the networked PC are recorded in a file called ATMGPSRV.LOG. This log file is located in the install folder (by default, ..\Program Files\Micro Focus\INFOCNEE) on the server where InfoConnect Airlines Gateway Monitor is installed. Each time you trace a session, the newly recorded data is appended to this file, so be sure to delete the file when you are finished with it to ensure that it does not become too large.
