INT1 Channels

An INT1 channel is a named collection of INT1 environments and other configuration settings that apply to all INT1 paths that use that channel.

All INT1 channels use the same environments. When you add an environment, you add it to all channels. When you delete an environment, you delete it from all channels. Only the settings on the Channels tab (such as the commands to use to establish and end communication with the host) are unique to each channel.

For example, you could create one channel that uses short text HICs for use with a System 80 host, and another channel that uses text HICs of any length for use with 2200 Series hosts.

You specify which channel to use when you create paths.

NOTE:You cannot delete the default INT1 channel. This channel is always present.

Suppress Listening Message

If the transport used with INT1 (such as the InfoConnect TCP/IP Transport) is configured to listen for host connection requests, INT1 can display the message Listening... on the terminal emulation screen while waiting for the host connection request. If you close the terminal emulation session while the transport is still listening, INT1 can display the message Listening Path Closed.

Select this option to keep these messages from appearing.

If you clear this option, these messages will appear.

Use Short Text HICs

Depending on the capabilities of your host, you might need to transmit short text header information codes (HICs) in segments of 255 or fewer bytes. For example, if you’re connecting to a System 80 host, you must use short text HICs.

Select this option to transmit only short text HICs.

If you clear this option, INT1 will transmit text HICs of any length.

Delay Initial Transaction

Select this option if you have problems establishing a connection with a host application because the initial transaction is being sent to the host too quickly. INT1 will wait a predetermined amount of time before sending the initial transaction.

If you clear this option, INT1 will send any initial transaction as soon as the host is ready to accept input.

Send READY Status By Default

Select this option to send a READY status to the host application each time you print.

Some host applications, such as DCP/OS on the Distributed Communications Processor (DCP), will not print unless they receive a READY status from INT1. In some cases, the host will stop communicating with the PC when you try to print.

NOTE:Selecting this option might cause printing problems with other host applications that do not require a READY status.

If you clear this option, INT1 will not send a READY status to the host application.

Open Host Session On Any Transmit

Select this option if you want to be able to connect to a host even if you type an invalid $$OPEN command and transmit.

If you clear this option, INT1 will connect to a host only if you type a valid $$OPEN command or transmit a blank line.

Suppress Initial Cursor Position Sequence

Select this option if you do not want INT1 to precede the initial transaction with a cursor positioning sequence.

If you clear this option, the cursor positioning sequence will be sent. Some host applications (such as SNA Net) require a cursor positioning sequence.

Connect

Type the command to use to establish a session with the host (such as $$OPEN).

This command must be no more than 10 characters.

Disconnect

Type the command to use to end a session with the host (such as $$CLOSE).

This command must be no more than 10 characters.
