INT1 Connections

When you configure INT1, you must create at least one connection.

Each connection includes the following information:

  • The type of network communication to be used

  • The network address of the host (the IP address or domain name)

  • Information about the host connection (such as whether you’re using a Host LAN Controller or a Distributed Communications Processor in gateway mode or IP router mode)

When you configure your INT1 environments, each environment will use a particular connection.

To find the Channel tab in Connection Manager

  1. Run the Connection Manager.

  2. From the path tree, click an INT1 path.

  3. Click the Channel tab.

  3. In the Host IP Address Or Domain Name text box, type the IP address (TCP/IP Internet address) of the Distributed Communications Processor (DCP) or Host LAN Controller (HLC), or type the domain name for the host using the following guidelines:

    • If you are using an IP address, type the address using four groups of digits (0-255) separated by periods (such as 12.234.0.123).

    • If you are using a domain name, type the domain name of the host (up to 63 characters).

If the host is in a different domain than the PC, type the domain name of the host using the following syntax:

    name.domain.type

where name is the name of the host, domain is the domain or group in which name is located, and type is the three-character type of the domain (such as mil, com, or edu). For example, the domain name for the host Joshua in the military domain Defcon might be joshua.defcon.mil.

To specify the TCP/IP connection type

  1. Go to the Connection tab.

  2. From the Connections list box, click the name of the connection that you want to modify.

    DCP - IP Router Mode

    A Host LAN Controller

    HLC

NOTE:If you click DCP - IP Router Mode or HLC, you must include a TSAP when you configure an environment that uses this connection. If you click DCP - Gateway Mode, you do not have to include a TSAP.
