Char Display Tab

Using this tab, you can specify how T27 displays data that it receives from the host.

SO/SI Extended Characters

Select this option to convert the SO character to ESC, ' . and to convert the SI character to ESC, ' /. Any extended characters are preceded by SO (making them appear in reverse video) and followed by SI (making any subsequent characters underlined).

If you clear both this option and SO/SI Translation, SO/SI characters are sent to the host without being converted. Any extended characters are preceded by ESC, SO (which converts any subsequent 8-bit characters to 7-bit characters) and followed by ESC, SI (which indicates that any subsequent characters will be handled as they normally would).

If you clear this option and select SO/SI Translation, SO characters are converted to ESC, ' . and SI characters are converted to ESC, ' /. Any extended characters are preceded by ESC, SO and followed by ESC, SI.

These configuration options apply only to data being transmitted to the host, not data received from the host.

SO/SI Translation

Select this option to convert the SO character to ESC, ' . and to convert the SI character to ESC, ' /. Any extended characters are preceded by ESC, SO (which converts any subsequent 8-bit characters to 7-bit characters) and followed by ESC, SI (which indicates that any subsequent characters will be handled as they normally would).

If you clear this option, SO/SI characters are sent to the host without being converted, and any extended characters are preceded by ESC, SO and followed by ESC, SI.

Display ETX

Select this option to display an end-of-text character when the host sends an ETX character.If you clear this option, the end-of-text character is not displayed.

VT Page Advance

Select this option if the session is configured for 32 lines per page and you want vertical tabs set on lines 1, 9, 17, and 25.

If you clear this option, no vertical tabs will be set.

Display CR

Select this option to display a carriage return symbol when the host sends a CR character.If you clear this option, no carriage return symbol will be displayed.

Display HT

Select this option to display a horizontal tab symbol when the host sends an HT character.If you clear this option, no horizontal tab symbol will be displayed.

To specify how SO/SI characters are handled

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  3. From the Categories list box, click Display.

  4. Click the Char Display tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    To

    Do this

    Convert the SO character to ESC, ' . and to convert the SI character to ESC, ' /. Any extended characters are preceded by SO (making them appear in reverse video) and followed by SI (making any subsequent characters underlined).

    Select SO/SI Extended Characters. (Selecting or clearing SO/SI Translation has no effect.)

    Send SO/SI characters to the host without being converted. Any extended characters are preceded by ESC, SO (which converts any subsequent 8-bit characters to 7-bit characters) and followed by ESC, SI (which indicates that any subsequent characters will be handled as they normally would).

    Clear SO/SI Extended Characters and SO/SI Translation.

    Convert SO/SI characters. Any extended characters are preceded by ESC, SO and followed by ESC, SI.

    Clear SO/SI Extended Characters and select SO/SI Translation.

To show or hide the ETX character

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  3. From the Categories list box, click Display.

  4. Click the Char Display tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    To

    Do this

    Show an end-of-text character when the host sends an ETX character

    Select Display ETX.

    Hide the end-of-text character

    Clear Display ETX.

To specify whether to use vertical tabs

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  3. From the Categories list box, click Display.

  4. Click the Char Display tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    To

    Do this

    Set vertical tabs on lines 1, 9, 17, and 25

    Select VT Page Advance.

    Not use vertical tabs

    Clear VT Page Advance.

NOTE:You can select this option only if the session is configured for 32 lines per page.

To show or hide the carriage return symbol (host-generated)

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  3. From the Categories list box, click Display.

  4. Click the Char Display tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    To

    Do this

    Show a carriage return symbol when the host sends a CR character

    Select Display CR.

    Hide the carriage return symbol

    Clear Display CR.

To show or hide the horizontal tab symbol (host-generated)

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  3. From the Categories list box, click Display.

  4. Click the Char Display tab.

  5. Do one of the following:

    To

    Do this

    Show a tab symbol when the host sends an HT character

    Select Display HT.

    Hide the tab symbol

    Clear Display HT.
