Commands Tab

Using this tab, you can specify various commands required for communicating with CANDE during a file transfer.

When you transfer files, the CANDE file transfer protocol either sends the specified commands to CANDE or interprets the commands received from CANDE.

To specify the make file command for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Command text box in the Make File group box, type the CANDE command to create a new file.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the make file response for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Response text box in the Make File group box, type the response that CANDE sends to the PC to indicate when a new file has been created and is ready to receive text.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the make file options for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Options text box in the Make File group box, type the type of file being created (such as ALGOL, BASIC, BINDER, C74, DATA, F77, PASCAL, SEQ).

    An entry in this text box is optional. If you enter a file type, it will apply to all files uploaded to the host.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator, or refer to your CANDE documentation.

To specify the get file command for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Command text box in the Get File group box, type the CANDE command to retrieve (get) a host file and create a work file.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the save file command for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Command text box in the Save File group box, type the CANDE command to save and remove the work file.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the next page command for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Command text box in the Next Page group box, type the CANDE command that scrolls to the next page of text.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the command for removing the work file in CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Upload text box in the Abort commands group box, type the CANDE command to remove the work file.

    This is the command that will be sent to CANDE when a file transfer is canceled.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the command for terminating a file listing in CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Download text box in the Abort commands group box, type the CANDE command to terminate a CANDE file listing (stop displaying a file).

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the scroll reply for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the Scrolling text box in the Responses group box, type the response that CANDE sends to the PC in response to the ?+s command.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To specify the end of host listing response for CANDE file transfers

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  4. From the Categories list box, click File Transfer.

  5. Click the Commands tab.

  6. In the List End text box in the Responses group box, type the response that CANDE sends to the PC to indicate that it has received all the data.

    If you are not sure what to type, contact your host system administrator.

To send a file using the CANDE file transfer protocol

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure CANDE is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. If the session is not currently connected to a host, click on the toolbar.

  4. Go to the CANDE window.

  5. From the Tools menu, click Send File.

  6. Complete the CANDE Send File dialog box.

    For information about any item on this dialog box, click the icon in the upper-right corner of the dialog box and then click the desired item.

  7. Click Transfer.

    The status line displays the progress of the transfer. If you have configured the CANDE file transfer protocol to display the contents of the file, that information also appears on the screen during the transfer.
