Options Tab

Using this tab, you can specify various options required for communicating with Handshake during a file transfer.

Options

Description

Host Time Out

Type the number of seconds (0-999) that the Handshake file transfer protocol should wait for a response from the host before canceling the file transfer.

ACK Frequency

Specifies an arbitrary value of 0 to 9 that represents how much Handshake will slow the data transfer rate. This avoids overwhelming the host with too much data.

The default is 1.

Shutdown Delay

Specifies the period that Handshake waits at the end of a file transfer before executing the terminate script. The period is measured in seconds.

The delay leaves the host program active, giving you time to initiate another file transfer. This lets you work more efficiently by avoiding start and stop processes.

The default is 5 seconds. The maximum value allowed is 99 seconds.

Data Size

Specifies the size of a data message sent during binary data transfers, measured in bytes. Increasing the data size reduces the number of messages required to transfer a file.

The default is 1800 bytes. The maximum value allowed is 3500.

Max Receive Size

Specifies how large a message the host can receive.

The default is 2500 bytes, which is also the maximum you can enter.

Sequence Base

Specifies the starting number for numbering lines of data. The sequence number is inserted at the beginning of a line before being transferred. The default is 100.

Sequence Increment

Specifies how much to increase each new line number. The default is 100.

Use Upload Compression

Specifies whether to compress a PC file before sending it to the host. When the option is cleared, no compression is used.

When using a high-speed transport such as HLCN, the file transfer may be fastest with the option cleared.

The default is the option cleared.

Ignore Script Case

Specifies whether Handshake should be case-sensitive in reading a transfer script. If the option is cleared, the tool treats the word "Window," for example, as a different word from "WINDOW." If the option is selected, the tool considers these words to match.

The default is the option is cleared.

Purge File On Abort

Specifies whether to delete data downloaded before a transfer aborted. Select this option to specify deleting.

To send a file using the Handshake file transfer protocol

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure HSAFT is selected as the File Transfer Protocol.

  3. If the session is not currently connected to a host, click on the toolbar.

  7. Click Begin Transfer.

The status line displays the progress of the transfer. If you have configured the Handshake file transfer protocol to display the contents of the file, that information also appears on the screen during the transfer.

To configure the Handshake file transfer protocol
