Miscellaneous Options

Using this dialog box, you can specify timeout values, how to handle control characters, and other options.

Perform Autoprint

Select this option to automatically send data directly to the printer, bypassing all spooling. If you clear this option, Print Services creates a temporary spooled file that can be closed, saved, printed, or deleted manually.

File Closure Time-out

Type the number of seconds (0-999999) that Print Services should wait without receiving data from the host before closing the file or sending the data to the printer. If the timeout value is too long, you might experience printing delays. Likewise, if this value is too short, a print job that consists of more than one buffer might be divided into multiple print jobs by Print Services.

If you type 0, Print Services will not close the file or send the data to the printer until it receives an Esc FF or Esc Esc P CR sequence from the host (if these options are selected).

ESC FF

Select this option to close the spooled file as soon as Print Services receives an Esc FF sequence from the host. If you clear this option, Print Services closes the file when the File Closure Time-out expires, or when it receives an Esc Esc P CR sequence from the host (if this option has been selected).

ESC ESC P CR

Select this option to close the spooled file as soon as Print Services receives an Esc Esc P CR sequence from the host. If you clear this option, Print Services closes the file when the File Closure Time-out expires, or when it receives an Esc FF sequence from the host (if this option has been selected).

Use Host Initiated Filename

Select this option to create a temporary file with the name specified in the Esc Esc P filename CR escape sequence, regardless of the print environment configuration. If you clear this option, Print Services creates a temporary file with the name specified in the Disk File Name text box (if the Printing Mode is Disk File) or with a name based on the time the first data buffer was received from the host (if the Printing Mode is Spooled).

Activate Environment on Start Up

Select this option to automatically activate this print environment when you run Print Services. If you clear this option, you must activate the environment manually before the environment can receive print jobs from the host.

Map CR to CR LF

Select this option to replace each carriage return character (CR) sent by the host with a carriage return and line feed character (CR/LF). If you clear this option, each CR character will perform only a carriage return.

Number of Columns

Type the number of columns (1 to 255) supported by the selected printer.

Replace HT with Spaces

Type the number of spaces (0-8) to substitute for each horizontal tab. To retain horizontal tabs and not replace them with spaces, type 0.

Translation Table

Type the name of the translation table (.XLT file) to use to convert characters received from the host before they are sent to the printer. T27 Print Services looks for this file in the ACCMGR32 folder unless you specify a different drive and directory here.
