Char Interpretation Tab

Using this tab, you can specify how T27 handles characters sent from the host.

Table 4-38 Char Interpretation Tab Options

Option

Description

DC1 Interpretation

Click the action that T27 should take when it receives a DC1 character from the host:

  • Stay In Receive: Keep the session in receive mode

  • Clear Line: Clear the page from home to the end of the line where the cursor is located

NOTE:Stay In Receive overrides the Receive Mode Hold option. If you click Stay In Receive, the session will stay in receive mode even if Receive Mode Hold is cleared.

DC2 Interpretation

Click the action that T27 should take when it receives a DC2 character from the host:

  • Toggle Forms: Switch from forms mode to nonforms mode, or from nonforms mode to forms mode if at least one unprotected field exists on the page

  • Advance DCP: Stay in the current mode and move the Datacomm pointer forward one space

CR Interpretation

Click what T27 should enter in the session window when the session receives a CR character from the host:

  • CR Only: A carriage return

  • CR + LF: A carriage return and a line feed

The best option for your session depends on how your host application formats its transmissions. For example, a program might transmit both CR and LF characters. If you click CR + LF, the session window would display two line feeds after each carriage return (one sent by the host and one created by T27).

LF Interpretation

Click what T27 should enter in the session window when the session receives an LF character from the host:

  • LF Only: A line feed

  • CR + LF: A carriage return and a line feed

The best option for your session depends on how your host application formats its transmissions. For example, a program might transmit both CR and LF characters. If you click CR + LF, the session window would display two line feeds after each carriage return (one sent by the host and one created by T27).

Receive Mode Hold

Select this option to remain in receive mode after receiving a message from the host.

If you clear this option, T27 switches to local mode after receiving a message.

NOTE:If you click Stay In Receive as the DC1 Interpretation, the session will stay in receive mode even if Receive Mode Hold is cleared.

FF Clears Tabs

Select this option to clear any variable tabs when T27 receives an FF character from the host.

If you clear this option, T27 will not clear the variable tabs.

T27 always clears the page after receiving the FF character, whether or not you select this option.

SOH Clears Screen

Select this option to clear the page containing the cursor when T27 receives an SOH character from the host. This ensures that the host has an empty page on which to write data.

If you clear this option, T27 takes no action when it receives an SOH character.

This option applies to nonforms mode only.

SOH Exits Forms

Select this option to exit forms mode when T27 receives an SOH character from the host.

If you clear this option, T27 takes no action when it receives an SOH character.

This option applies to forms mode only.

ETX Advance

Select this option to move the Datacomm pointer one position to the right of the ETX location when T27 receives an ETX character (end of text character) from the host.

If you clear this option, T27 moves the Datacomm pointer to the ETX location.

Forms Transmit To Cursor

Select this option to transmit all transmittable fields between home and the cursor position when the session is in forms mode.

If you clear this option, T27 transmits all transmittable fields on the page.

Line At A Time Transmit

Select this option to transmit only the line containing the cursor.

If you clear this option, T27 transmits the entire page.

NOTE:This option does not affect transmissions when you press the minus key (-) on the numeric keypad.

Raw 8-Bit Data

Select this option to transmit extended characters to the host and preserve the values above ASCII 127.

If you clear this option, T27 transmits extended characters as 7-bit characters.

Enable Mobile Home

Select this option to allow host sequences to set a mobile home.

If you clear this option, any host sequence that sets a mobile home will be ignored.
