Translation Tab

Using this tab, you can specify the translation table (.TBL file) to use for converting data sent from the host to the PC, and for converting data sent from the PC to the host.

Usually, you specify the same translation table for both Host To Screen and Screen To Host and select Invert for one or the other (usually Host To Screen).

Host To Screen

Type the name of the translation table (.TBL file) to use to convert characters received from the host before they are displayed on the PC.To select the table from a list of available translation tables, click Browse.

Screen To Host

Type the name of the translation table (.TBL file) to use to convert displayed characters before they are sent to the host.To select the table from a list of available translation tables, click Browse.

Invert

Select this option to translate the character to the right of the equal sign in the translation table into the character to the left of the equal sign.

For example, if the translation table says A=B, selecting this option means that B will be translated into A.

If you clear this option, the character to the left of the equal sign is translated into the character to the right.

The translation tables provided with T27 always list the extended characters to the left of the equal sign. If you are using these tables for both Host To Screen and Screen To Host, select Invert only for Host To Screen.

Browse

Click this button to select the desired file from a list of available files.

To select a translation table

  1. If a T27 session is not already open, open one.

  2. From the Options menu, click Settings.

  3. From the Categories list box, click Display.

  4. Scroll the tabs and click the Translation tab.

  5. In the Host To Screen text box, type the name of the translation tables to use to convert characters received from the host before they are displayed on the PC.To select the table from a list of available translation tables, click Browse.

  6. If you are using the translation tables that come with T27, select Invert under the Host To Screen text box.

  7. In the Screen To Host text box, type the name of the translation table to use to convert displayed characters before they are sent to the host.

    To select the table from a list of available translation tables, click Browse.

    The selected translation tables will be applied the next time you open this session.
