4.1.19 1100/2200 Series Host File Naming Conventions

Most 1100/ 2200 Series host file names use the following syntax. When you type a host file name, type the components in the order shown, with no spaces. The components in brackets ([ ]) are optional. If you include these components in your host file name, do not type the brackets.

[pack@][qualifier*]hostfilename[/rdkey][/wrkey][/(f-cyc)].[element[/version][(e-cyc)]]

where:

  • pack is the host disk pack ID (up to 6 characters). The pack name must be followed by an @ symbol.

  • qualifier is the host file qualifier (up to 12 characters). The qualifier must be followed by an asterisk (*).

  • hostfilename is the name of the host file (up to 12 characters).

  • rdkey is the host file read key (up to 6 characters).

  • wrkey is the host file write key (up to 6 characters).

  • (f-cyc) is the host file cycle number. If you include this component, be sure to include the parentheses.

  • element is the host program file element name (up to 12 characters).

  • version is the host program file element version (up to 12 characters).

  • (e-cyc) is the host file element cycle number. If you include this component, be sure to include the parentheses.
