RCV Options Area on the Extended Control Page

The following table describes the codes that you can type in the Options field in the RCV row on the Extended Control Page.

You can type these option codes in any order.

Acknowledge Host

Sends the following messages to the host in response to each screen of data received:

ACK - Screen transferred successfully.

ACK1 - File transferred successfully and completed.

NAK1 - Disk full.

NAK4 - I/O error.

Eliminate Trailing Spaces

Eliminates all trailing spaces from the end of each record.

None

C

Cursor Exclusive

Indicates that the character immediately to the left of the cursor is the last character from the screen to be included in the received file.

If you do not specify this option, the character under the cursor is the last character to be included in the file.

If the E option is specified, the C option is ignored.

E

SOE to End of Display

Indicates that data from the last start-of-entry (SOE) character to the end of the display is to be included in the received file.

If you do not specify this option, the data from the last SOE to the character under the cursor is included in the file.

If the E option is specified, the C option is ignored.

F

Keep Form Feed Characters

Retains all form feed characters in the received file.

None

G

Do not Write EOF String to MS-DOS File

Omits the string that marks the end of the file being transferred from the received file.

None

I

Insert CR/LF after Each Screen

Inserts carriage return and line feed characters into the received file after each successful transmission of a screen.

Eliminate Null Records

Omits null records from the received file.

None

P

Suppress Print

Suppresses the printing of each screen of data transferred.

None

R

Record Mode Receive

Enables record mode.If multiple records are received in each transmission, you must use the R option to capture the entire block. If record separators appear after data in one block and the R option is not used, only data from the last record separator to the end of the block will be saved to the file.

S

Stream Receive

Receives the data as a continuous stream with no forced separation of records.

The separator character separates the stream of data.

If you do not specify this option, each line of data is appended with a carriage return and line feed character.

Tn

Tab Modulus

1-9

Replaces spaces with horizontal tabs every n columns in the MS-DOS file.

For example, if a space is in the nth column and the preceding character is a space, then these spaces will be replaced with a horizontal tab.

If Tc and Tn are both specified, Tn will be ignored.

Tc

Substitute c for Tab

Replaces every horizontal tab with the specified character c in the MS-DOS file.

If Tc and Tn are both specified, Tn will be ignored.

X

De-hexify Data

Converts each pair of ASCII characters into a one-byte binary character.

The transfer stops if a non-hexadecimal character is received.

Spaces are ignored. All other options are disabled.

Y

Append Received Data into File

Appends the data received to the end of any existing data in the MS-DOS file.

All non-printable characters (except horizontal tabs and form feed characters) are converted to spaces. These spaces can be stripped with the B option or replaced with the Tn option.

To set a tab

  1. If a UTS session is not already open, open one.

  2. Position the cursor where you want to set the tab.

  3. Press CTRL+5 on the numeric keypad (NUM LOCK must be off).

    NOTE:If you are using a keyboard map other than PEPWIN.EKM, press the keystroke associated with the TabSet command.

Tab settings are in effect only as long as the session is open. They cannot be saved.

In addition, the tab stop appears on the screen only if Display Control Chars is selected in the session configuration. To modify this option, click Settings from the Options menu, click Display from the Categories list box, and then click the Control tab.

To clear a tab

  1. If a UTS session is not already open, open one.

  2. Make sure that Display Control Chars is selected in the session configuration.

  3. Position the cursor on the tab stop that you want to delete.

  4. Press SHIFT+SPACE.

    NOTE:If you are using a keyboard map other than PEPWIN.EKM, press the keystroke associated with the ClearUnprotCharacter command.
