Generate FCC Dialog Box

Using this dialog box, you can specify the characteristics of the current FCC field.

Description

Generating FCC At Cursor Location

This display area indicates the cursor's current location (row and column).

Tab Stop

Select this option to set an FCC tab at the cursor location.

If you select this option, you will be able to move the cursor to this location by pressing Tab.

If you clear this option, an FCC tab will not be set. (Clearing this option is recommended if you are created a protected field.)

Protect Emphasis

Select this option to be able to delete data in the field without deleting the emphasis attributes (such as column separators, underscore, upperscore, strikethrough).

If you clear this option, when you delete the data in the field, you will also delete the emphasis attributes.

Right Justification

Select this option to align the text on the right side of the field.

If you clear this option, the text will be aligned on the left side of the field.

Video

Click the way you want this field to appear on the screen:

  • NORMAL: Display the characters with normal video intensity .

  • LOW INTENSITY: Display the characters with low video intensity (dim) .

  • BLINK: Make the field blink .

  • REVERSE VIDEO: Reverse the background and foreground colors .

  • VIDEO OFF: Prevent characters from being displayed .

Data Entry

Click the type of data that users can type in the field:

  • UNRESTRICTED: Alphabetic, numeric, or special characters .

  • ALPHA ONLY: Alphabetic characters only (a, b, c) .

  • NUMERIC ONLY: Numeric characters only (1, 2, 3) .

  • PROTECTED: No characters .

NOTE:If you select PROTECTED, users will be unable to type characters in the field, and to move the cursor to that field as well.

Foreground Color

Click the color for the characters in the field.

NOTE:This option applies to UTS 60 terminal emulation only.

Background Color

Click the color for the background of the field.

NOTE:This option applies to UTS 60 terminal emulation only.

Show Active FCC

Click this button to display the settings associated with the FCC field at the specified cursor location.

Set Default

Click this button to display the default settings for the Generate FCC dialog box.

Generate

Click this button to assign the selected attributes to the FCC field and close the Generate FCC dialog box.

To create an FCC field using keystrokes

  1. If a UTS session is not already open, open one.

  2. If the session is not currently connected to a host, click the icon on the toolbar.

  3. Position the cursor on the session window where you want to begin the FCC.

  4. Press CTRL+G.

    NOTE:If you are using a keyboard map other than PEPWIN.EKM, press the keystroke associated with the FCCGenerate command.

  5. Type one of the following:

  10. Position the cursor on the session window where you want to begin the next FCC.

    The beginning of a new FCC field also marks the end of the previous field.

  11. Repeat steps 4 through 10 for each FCC field that you want to create.

    The last FCC defines how the rest of the page will appear.

  12. After you have created all the desired FCC fields, press ALT+B.

    NOTE:If you are using a keyboard map other than PEPWIN.EKM, press the keystroke associated with the FCCEnable command.

  13. Save the page to a file. (Be sure to select FCCs on the Page to File dialog box.)
