4.1.14 UTS and the Windows Registry

UTS is pre-configured to perform a number of functions in a particular way. For example, by default, UTS does not sound a beep when an invalid entry is made on the Control Page.

Configuration options for these kinds of functions are not included in the UTS configuration dialog boxes. However, you can change the way these functions are performed by adding a UTS Options key to the Windows registry:

To modify the Windows registry for use with UTS

  1. Run the Windows Registry Editor.

WARNING:Changes to the Windows registry are saved as soon as they are made and become effective immediately. It is strongly recommended that you create a backup copy of your registry before changing it.

  2. Use your usual procedure for navigating to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Attachmate\Accessory Manager key.

  3. From the Edit menu, point to New, then click Key.

  4. When the New Key appears on the tree, type UTS Options.

  5. From the Edit menu, point to New, then click String Value.

  6. When the New Value appears on the tree, type the name of the value to add.

For example, the value might be AllowTransfers.

  7. Click elsewhere on the window (to ensure that the value name changes from New Value to the specified value), and then click the item that you just added and click Modify from the Edit menu.

  8. Type the data for the value.

For example, the data for AllowTransfers might be FALSE.

The changes take effect the next time you run Accessory Manager.
