Client/Server Binding |
This User Guide describes the communications middleware available with NetExpress for creating and running client/server applications.
You can use either of the following methods to connect a client to a server with COBOL:
AAI is a middleware product which provides a variety of connection services for application programs, across a wide selection of environments and communications protocols.
AAI is not available as a part of NetExpress but is a separately purchasable product. For additional information, please contact your Micro Focus representative.
NetExpress provides the client/server binding as an example of a good, yet simple way to connect a client to a server. See the chapter Client/Server Binding for full details.
Both the client/server binding and Fileshare use the Micro Focus Common Communications Interface (CCI) to provide the communications interface. CCI can run over several different communications protocols: TCP/IP, NetBEUI, Novell IPX, APPC and Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) are supported by NetExpress. See your NetExpress online book Configuring CCI for more details.
