In the Files of type field, NetExpress gives you a choice of file types to select from. Here we are simply interested in the COBOL programs in the project.
When you select a file type and open a file, editing facilities are relevant to the file type you select.
So, opening a COBOL program gives you the text editor, whereas opening a bitmap file gives you a bitmap editor.
