15.14 A Device Name Is Required to Create a Cluster Partition

If you are planning to work with shared-disk NSS pools and volumes, you must create a Split Brain Detector (SBD) partition when you configure the first node on the cluster by selecting the name of a device (such as sdc) that is already initialized and marked shareable for clustering. If you don't enter a device name, you must manually create an SBD before you configure clustering on a second node and before you attempt to create storage objects or cluster-enable NSS pools.
