28.6 How to add and enable a user for LUM?

You can LUM-enable all members of a LUM group. Users who are enabled for the first time receive the group ID (GID) as their primary ID, while users who were previously enabled for Linux receive the group ID as a secondary GID. Users who are not enabled for Linux cannot log in to OES, even if they belong to a LUM-enabled group.

  1. Browse and select the containers that contain the workstations.

  2. Select the workstations, click the More actions button , and then click Add user. A list of LUM-enabled and non LUM-enabled users are displayed.

  3. Select the users that you want to LUM-enable and click Next.

If you select a LUM-enabled user, the user is added to the group.

  4. Select a group and click Next.

Only one group can be selected. If the group is not enabled for LUM, it is enabled during this process. The users are included in the selected group.

  5. Select the Linux configuration object for the workstation and click Next.

  6. Review the summary and click Finish.

The users are LUM-enabled and the selected group is added as their primary group. If a primary group was already assigned to the users, the newly added group is displayed as the secondary group.
