16.2 Planning for Migration to Physical Machines

Ensure that your environment meets the following prerequisites for migration to physical machines:

  • Use PlateSpin Migrate Client or PlateSpin Migrate Web Interface to migrate workloads to a target physical machine.

NOTE:Use the PlateSpin Migrate Web Interface to perform full migration of workload to a target physical machine. PlateSpin Migrate Web Interface does not support incremental replication of workloads to a target physical machine.

  • Ensure that all the drivers for the physical target are uploaded to the PlateSpin Migrate X2P device driver database before you configure migration. Otherwise, the migration might fail with an error requiring you to upload all the required drivers and reconfigure the migration.

  • Your physical hardware must be supported by PlateSpin Migrate. See the following information in Supported Configurations:

  • Ensure that all the drivers for the physical target are uploaded to the PlateSpin Migrate X2P device driver database before you configure migration. Otherwise, the migration might fail with an error requiring you to upload all the required drivers and reconfigure the migration.

  • Your network environment must meet the requirements for access, discovery, and migration described in Access and Communication Requirements across Your Migration Network.

  • Configure volumes on the target disks with about 50 MB of additional storage space than the source disks.

For information about configuring semi-automated migration to a physical machine, see Migration to Physical Machines.
