21.6 Creating a NIC for the Target VM

You use the Network panel on the Workload dialog to specify a network name, subnet name. and the NICs to use on the target VM.

Constraints:

  • The VM must have at least one NIC.

  • The VM cannot have more NICs than the maximum number allowed by the target VM in its assigned target host.

  • You can add NICs up to the maximum number allowed by the VM.

  • You must remove (delete) the NICs that you do not want to create on the target VM. You can remove all but one NIC.

  • If you modify the target Platform resource, any networks not associated with the replacement host are removed. The displayed NICs are again the same as source.

To create a NIC:

  1. In the Workload dialog, scroll to the Network Interfaces panel, then click Add.

  2. Specify the information for the NIC.

  3. Click Save to update the network interface settings.
