To upgrade from PlateSpin Transformation Manager 2 to PlateSpin Transformation Manager 2019.2, you will deploy a replacement virtual machine image for PlateSpin Transformation Manager 2019.2 Appliance, and re-use Disk 2 (/vastorage). All PTM configuration files and the PTM database are stored on the disk that is mounted at /vastorage. You will copy Disk 2 to the new deployment location and attach it to the replacement virtual machine during its deployment.
The PTM 2019.2 Appliance OVF file provides an new appliance template with the following changes:
PlateSpin Transformation Manager Server and any software package dependencies
PlateSpin Migrate Connector and any software package dependencies
PlateSpin Database schema changes
The upgrade deployment opens the Appliance Management Console and prompts you to set passwords for the vaadmin user and root user for the new appliance, and then completes the upgrade. PTM reads the existing configuration files on Disk 2, and applies those settings to the replacement appliance, and then applies database schema changes to the database stored on Disk 2.
NOTE:The VM replacement process takes only about 5 minutes until you are up and running again.
