Reflection X Advantage Planning and Installation Guide

Reflection X Advantage (RXA) is an X Server for remotely displaying graphical Linux or UNIX applications from Windows desktops, whether hosted locally, on-premises through Citrix or VMware, or in the cloud.

RXA supports GNOME 3 desktops and has powerful features that secure connections, protect sessions, distribute settings, authenticate users, and speed performance over slow network connections. It can display X clients and X desktops running on any platform.

RXA is included in three Micro Focus suites that combine terminal emulation and PC X server functionality into a single package. In addition to RXA, these suites include the following features:

  • Reflection Desktop for X includes terminal emulators that provide access to applications running on UNIX, Linux, and OpenVMS systems and a secure FTP client for securely transferring files between Windows and Linux or UNIX systems.

  • Reflection Desktop Pro includes terminal emulators that provide access to applications running on IBM, UNIX, Linux, and OpenVMS systems, and a secure FTP client.

  • InfoConnect Desktop Pro for Unisys with X includes terminal emulators that provide access to applications running on Unisys, UNIX, Linux, OpenVMS, IBM, and HP 3000 hosts, and a secure FTP client.

RXA provides two modes of operation—Standalone mode and Domain mode.

Standalone mode is provided by a single application—X Manager, which is installed by default, is a bulletproof X server that provides reliable, seamless access to your mission-critical X applications.

Domain mode offers all the functionality of standalone mode and complements that power with additional features that help enhance productivity without increasing costs.
