Multi-Protocol Transport Networking (MPTN) is an open architecture that allows integration of multiple-vendor and multiple-protocol environments.

The primary advantage of MPTN is that you can use either SNA or APPC to communicate over TCP/IP networks. This means that you can use the full capability of the Rumba APPC engine over your existing TCP/IP backbone. Effectively, this links your client workstation directly to the AS/400, providing transparent access to functionality, such as AS/400 printer and file transfer.
