Changing ports when port 5461 is in use:

Symptom

You discover that port 5461 is in use by another application, or you need to change ports for some reason.

What to do

If you have not already installed Silk Meter:

1. Set the port you want to use during the setup of Silk Meter.

If you already installed Silk Meter on the license server and clients:

• Stop the Silk Meter Proxy Service using the Service Manager.

• Change the port in the config.xml configuration file in the SilkMeter/bin directory.

• Start the Silk Meter Proxy Service using the Service Manager again.

• To update the connection information for the clients use either the Client Admin Tool or the Policy Adminisrator to update the old port number to the new used port number on the Silk Meter server host and on any client host.
