Standalone licensing

Standalone operation is the operation of an application without a Silk Meter server. The client reads the policy directly to determine if it is allowed to run, rather than connect to a remote or local license server for authorization.

To support this type of licensing, policies must have the allow_standalone option set to true and the Silk Meter configuration file (silkmeter.cfg) must include the following line:

run_standalone=true

The Configuration/Connection Settings menu option allows switching to and from this mode.

Note: Running remote server and standalone applications on the same machine can lead to inconsistencies in the policies.dat file when the file is changed. Running remote server and standalone applications on the same machine is not recommended.
