Standardizing Home Folder Attributes

Set your user home folder attributes to a path that ends with the user’s home folder name, rather than the parent path (e.g., user EBROWN's home folder attribute should be set to VOL2:\USERS\EBROWN).

Storage Manager lets you easily standardize home folder attributes by overwriting attributes linked to the parent path.

  1. Click the Main tab in the Admin Client.

  2. Click Identity Objects.

  3. Browse the directory tree in the left-hand pane to locate and select the desired container.

    • Users requiring standard home folder attributes appear in the right-hand pane.

  4. Right-click the desired organizational unit in the right-hand pane and click User Actions, then select Assign Managed Path.

  5. Select the Always overwrite Managed Path attribute option.

  6. Browse to locate and select the path where all home folders in the selected container will reside, then click OK.

  7. Verify that the Run in Check Mode box is checked.

  8. Click Run.

  9. Click Expand Results to enlarge the view.

    • Storage Manager summarizes any problems it can resolve in the Action column.

    • Resulting home folder attributes that will be created are displayed as “Match found. Managed path would be set.”

  10. Click Collapse.

  11. If the actions Storage Manager took in check mode are satisfactory, uncheck the Run in Check Mode box and click Run again.

  12. Run a new Consistency Check Report by selecting the organizational unit from Step 4, then clicking Consistency Check and Run.

    • All users now have proper home folder attributes.
