To create a new file from a custom template

You can create new files in your project using your own file templates. See Using custom project and file templates for details about how to create file templates.

To create a file from a template:

  1. Right-click your project in COBOL Explorer, click New and either specify COBOL Program or COBOL Copybook.
  2. Specify a name for the file in the New file name field.
  3. Select the template you want to use.

The dialog shows the default Micro Focus template and any custom templates you might have enabled.

    • If you have not configured the IDE to use custom templates, click Configure template preferences. This starts the Preferences dialog that enables you to specify any custom templates to use.
    • If you want to use another existing file as a template, check Browse for template and click Browse to navigate to the location of the file and to select it.
  4. Click Finish to create the new file in your project.
