ODBC Data Source Administrator

Note: You must be logged into Windows as an administrator to create System DSNs.

You can use the ODBC Data Source Administrator to create a 32-bit or a 64-bit data source name (DSN) for connecting to a database:

  1. Start the ODBC Data Source Administrator. For instructions, see To start the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
  2. In the ODBC Data Source Administrator, click the User DSN or System DSN tab.
  3. Click Add.
  4. On the Name list, select a database type; then click Finish.

    This launches the Microsoft Create a New Data Source wizard.

  5. Complete the fields as appropriate; then click OK to close the ODBC Data Source Administrator.
