To view the contents of a data set

Restriction: This topic applies only when the Enterprise Server feature is enabled.
  1. In the dropdown list under Resources on the ESMAC menu, select JES.
  2. Click Catalog in the Resources part of the ESMAC menu.
  3. To limit the entries displayed, enter a filter string in the text field next to the List button. For example, enter "ABC*" to view only those data sets that begin with ABC. You can use a single asterisk as a wild card.
Note: Check Disable Additional Qualifiers to disable the use of implied wild cards; for example, a filter of A.B would only return a data set of A.B (and not all data sets that start A.B, as if A.B** had been entered).
  4. Click the List button.
  5. On the Data Catalog, page click DCB against the entry that you want to update.
  6. Update the fields Start and for to indicate which records you want to view. Clear the for field to view all the records in a file. The default is that you view the first 10000 records or the whole file, whichever is the shorter.
  7. In Codeset choose the codeset that you want to be used for the display.
  8. If you want to see extra details check Details.
  9. Click Display.

The contents of the data set are displayed. Click Back on your Browser toolbar to return to the Catalog Entry page.

Note: If you are viewing the catalog from the Enterprise Server Administration page, and you attempt to view all the records in a large file, be aware that your browser will take some time to display all the records, and might run out of memory.
